Calling The Doctor For The First Time

Today I called the Dr. Leinenbach's office to tell them I was pregnant and to set up my first doctor's appointment. They set me up for December 14th and I will be 7 weeks along then. They told me today that my estimated due date is July 30, 2010. I will just meet with the nurse practitioner to go over some routine stuff. They also will do a lot of lab work. I will go back at 12 weeks and get to see Dr. Leinenbach and hear the heartbeat. I can't wait for that one!

Already Starting To Have Symptoms

The last couple of mornings when I woke up I have been having this horrible nausea feeling. I haven't actually gotten sick yet, but I feel like I am going too. When I was pregnant with Christian I didn't start feeling sick until I was about 7 or 8 weeks along and I only felt sick in the evenings. The weird thing was with Christian is I never threw up until after my first trimester. I can remember counting down the day until my second trimester so I wouldn't feel so sick. It seemed like the day I hit my second trimester I no longer felt sick in the evenings, but if I didn't eat something the second I woke up I would puke. As soon as I would eat I felt great. This lasted through most of my second trimester and I still had to eat something every morning when I woke up even after my second trimester. I have already switched my toothpaste to cinnamon flavor instead of mint. I had to do this last time also. For some reason that strong mint taste in the morning always makes me gag. I have also noticed feeling a little more tired than usual too. Other than these few minor things I think everything is going well so far.

Telling Aunt Susan, Uncle Duane and Travis

Tonight we had Aunt Susan, Uncle Duane, and Travis over for pizza and to share our good news. We decided to put Christian in his big brother shirt and put a jacket on over it. Whenever they got there we were all sitting at the bar snacking on chips, salsa, and cheese from Los Bravos. Christian was sitting on a stool and Susan sat down next to him. Jason said, "Hey Susan can you take Christian's jacket off? I forgot that he had it on." Well she takes off his jacket but Christian was too busy eating to turn around so she never saw what his shirt said. Jason and I were kind of looking at each other like 'now what are we going to do?' After about five minutes of us making small talk Jason finally said, "Hey Christian show Aunt Susan what your shirt says!" Then Susan turns Christian around and reads his shirt and was really excited. We all started laughing. Susan hugged Christian and I and they all told us congratulations. It was lots of fun! It was really nice getting to hang out just the six of us. Usually when we get together it's for a big party, (which don't get me wrong I love) but sometimes it's nice to keep it small so we can all talk and relax. Christian had a blast getting all the attention from everyone also. Him and Travis played forever and he was cracking up laughing with him. We all had a really great time together.

Telling My Family

The first person I called after I took the test was my sister Alisann. She is always the first to know everything with me. The next person I told was my friend Kayce when I got to work Wednesday morning because I knew there was no way I was going to make it through the whole day with out telling her. I didn't get a chance to tell anyone else in my family until last night at my Grandpa Shetler's. I told Martha and Becky over there. My brother John kept questioning me when I turned down a glass of wine, but I just kept denying it. I wanted to tell my parents by showing them the slideshow that I had made for them of their family starting with when Jason and I started dating and ending with Christian's big brother shirt. I really wanted to be able to tell them on Thanksgiving, but I never got a chance and I didn't want to show them the slideshow in front of all my Aunts, Uncle and cousins. That would have been way to embarrassing for me. I was already a little uncomfortable with the whole slideshow thing. Today after I got off work Jason, Christian and I went over to Mom and Dad's even though dad was at work. I showed Mom, Mary, and The Babe the slideshow. My Mom started crying whenever the slideshow started playing and not because she had any clue what it was about, but because she always cries when she watches a slideshow. We had to pause it half way through so she could clean something up and she kept getting distracted in it. By the time we got to the end she wasn't even watching it and I was like "oh my god! You've got to be kidding me." She looked up just as the slideshow was scrolling down Christian's shirt. She started reading it and it took her a split second and then she got it. She started crying and screaming out loud. She gave us all hugs and was so excited and happy. Then my dad came home from lunch with my brother John and we showed them the slideshow again. Dad reacted like I expected. I'm a lot like him and don't like a lot of whatever, so he was excited and said, "well that's good!" It's a typical reaction from my dad, but we know he cares and that is what is important. Everyone is really excited in my family also. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family that loves us so much!

Telling Jason's Family

I made a slideshow for Kenny and LeeAnn of pictures of their family starting from when Jason and I started dating. I think they were probably a little confused as too why Jason wanted them to watch this slideshow when we were busy playing with christian and trying to get things ready for lunch. When they saw the last picture of Christian wearing his shirt LeeAnn jumped up and screamed out loud in shock. We all had tears in our eyes and were hugging. It was a great surprise. They knew we had been trying for six months, but we totally caught them off guard with the slideshow. I'm not one that likes to make a big deal out of things because I get embarrassed. When I was pregnant with Christian we didn't do anything for either of our parents except just tell them. This time seemed different now that we have a child and can understand the true specialness of having a baby and it's fun to let Christian be the one to kind of break the news since he's going to be the big brother. Jamie and Ben weren't there yet when we showed them the video, so we showed it again once they got there. Jamie was really enjoying the slideshow and then at the end when she read the shirt she jumped on me and started squeezing me and kept saying how happy and excited she was. Kenny, LeeAnn and Jamie's reactions were all priceless and I will always treasure that memory. It is so nice to have such a wonderful loving family. I can't wait to bring another wonderful baby into it!

It's About Time

I took another test this morning and guess what? It was positive! It is definitely about time. I think it has been six months now that we have been trying. I made a slide show for Jason from when we first started dating all the way up to Christian's second birthday. Then the last picture is of Christian wearing a shirt that says "I'm going to be a big brother". When I showed Jason the slideshow I think he was kind of like what the heck did she do this for. Then when he saw the last picture he goes, "really?'' and I told him yes that I took the test this morning. Then he started crying and gave me a big hug and told me how happy he was. It was all very exciting and sweet. Now it is time to start all the planning!

Testing Time

I took a test this morning and of course it was negative. After I took it though I realized that I probably took it a little too soon. I think the earliest I will be able to find out this month will be on Monday and maybe even as late as Wednesday. I'm going by when I THINK I was ovulating. I think it was either November 12, 13, or 14. If that is the case then I should start my period either November 26, 27, or 28. I basing that on that you are supposed to start your period exactly two weeks after you ovulate. I really don't know anything for sure. If I'm not pregnant this time I think I might try those Ovulation kits again and see if that works. I'm trying to stay positive and not stress about it. It will happen when it is supposed too.
